A Kickstarter success story, Nomad raised $161k on the crowdfunding website in the summer of 2012. Their mission was to reinvent the usb cable. Persistence, adaptability, efficiency, enthusiasm, accountability, communication and passion are listed as their values instilled within their company.
This isn’t to say it has been all smooth sailing – the company literally started at the founder’ grandparent’s house – for five months they were not spending any money and were living grandma’s to condense expenses. However, their frugality in the early stages has paid off – the company has expanded to a staff of twelve Nomads. The company still operates on small scale resourcefulness whenever possible – they still barter for design services, web programing, tax advice. “We’re trying to barter for bigger stuff, like a Tesla… just for the press.”
