I was able to take a quick studio visit with Apex while gallivanting about the bay area. The street artist whose real name is Ricardo Richey thrives off of vibrant abstracts utilizes unique techniques to create his signature patterns. Part of San Francisco’s Gestalt Collective, a group that creates collaborative murals in the city, Apex’s talent bleeds from his large scale pieces. “When I paint, I am making my own fabric… I paint the canvas, cut it up, put it into whatever shape” explains Apex. Fusing different elements into his medium, his work has been shown extensively in the city as well as globally.
In addition to his innovative artistic eye, Apex is also business-savvy. He is currently in the process of starting an artist agency. After working with companies like Zindas and Spotify, he realized that many businesses wanted incredible artwork for their offices. However, Apex realized after creating huge pieces for techies that there was a business to be explored – companies wanting more art for their offices but not knowing where to go could go to Apex, as he obviously has ties to many gifted art scene rising stars.
