The last place I expected to end up during my San Francisco journey was a pickling class… but I definitely was not mad about it. Taking place at Workshop SF, located in the Western Addition neighborhood of SF, I had no idea of what to expect at my very first cooking class. Taught by Kelly McVicker, I was excited and eager to master a new craft.
Stating under the class description, “we welcome all aprons and six packs,” I was pretty excited to get pickled while pickling. Trust me, it was just as fun as it sounds. At the end of the class, I left with two types of pickled vegetables – I did carrots and cucumbers, plus some extensive resources (including recipes) to make sure I could repeat the process at home.
Workshop SF is a rad organization taught by local makers and designers, many of whom have recently pursued their passion full time. What this means is that by taking a class here, not only are you learning a new craft you wouldn’t necessarily learn on a regular day, you are also helping support a fellow creative in their journey of crafting their dream to be a reality.
